Network Security Administrator

Job Description:

We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Network Security Administrator to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for implementing, managing, and maintaining the security of our network infrastructure. This role involves protecting our network from unauthorized access, monitoring for security breaches, and ensuring compliance with industry security standards. The successful candidate will have strong knowledge of firewalls, intrusion detection systems, VPNs, and other security protocols, along with experience in administering security solutions across both on-premises and cloud environments.
 

Key Responsibilities:
 

1. Network Security Management:
   • Administer and maintain security systems, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and Unified Threat Management (UTM) devices.
   • Monitor network traffic for suspicious activity, security breaches, and anomalies.
   • Configure and manage Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) to ensure secure remote access.
      
2. Threat Detection and Response:
   • Investigate security incidents and respond to network threats such as malware, viruses, and unauthorized access.
   • Conduct vulnerability assessments, risk analysis, and penetration testing on network systems.
   • Maintain an incident response plan, and act as the first point of contact for any security breach or threat.
      
3. Network Configuration and Hardening:
   • Configure network devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, and other security hardware to ensure they are hardened and secure.
   • Implement and manage access control policies, ensuring only authorized users have access to network resources.
   • Regularly review and update firewall rules, ensuring compliance with security standards.
      
4. Configuration and Maintenance of Zscaler:
   • Configure Zscaler Private Access and Zscaler Internet Access Portals.
   • Raising tickets and troubleshooting performance related issues.
   • Regularly review and update Zscaler policies.
      
5. Compliance and Best Practices:
   • Ensure that network security practices adhere to compliance requirements, including ISO 27001, PCI-DSS, HIPAA, or other relevant regulations.
   • Develop, document, and enforce security policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with best practices.
   • Stay updated on the latest security threats, technologies, and industry best practices to maintain network security.
      
6. Monitoring and Reporting:
   • Continuously monitor security logs, UTM/IDS alerts, and network activity to detect and respond to potential security issues.
   • Maintain comprehensive documentation of security configurations, incidents, and resolutions.
   • Generate regular security reports for management, highlighting any risks, vulnerabilities, or incidents.
      
7. Security Awareness and Training:
   • Collaborate with IT staff and departments to promote security awareness and best practices across the organization.
   • Provide training and guidance on network security tools and techniques to internal teams.
      
8. System Updates and Patching:
   • Ensure that all security systems and network devices are regularly updated with the latest patches and security updates.
   • Maintain endpoint security tools, including antivirus and malware detection software.
      
9. Backup and Recovery:
   • Assist in developing and maintaining network backup and disaster recovery plans.
   • Ensure that critical network configurations and data are backed up securely and can be restored in case of failure or breach.
      

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
• 3-5 years of experience in network security administration or related roles.
• Strong understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP), firewall management, VPN technologies, and security tools.
• Hands-on experience with security technologies such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, UTM, SIEM, and endpoint protection systems.
• Working experience in SASE tools like Zscaler, Prisma, Cisco umbrella or Netskope.
• Experience in cloud-based Meraki configuration is required & experience in Rapid7 and Lansweeper tools are good to have
• Proficiency in network security tools and technologies (Cisco, Fortinet, Palo Alto, etc.).
• Knowledge of compliance regulations such as ISO 27001, PCI-DSS, HIPAA, or SOC2. (Good To Have)
• Familiarity with cloud security environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP) is a plus. (Good To Have)

• CompTIA Security+
