Position Summary
We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Email Marketing Specialist to join our customer communications team. The Email Marketing Specialist will play a crucial role in executing global customer communications, managing customer mailing lists, and analyzing communications performance. The email marketing specialist will support increasing retention and improving CSAT for our customers. Additionally, the email marketing specialist will lead customer journey mapping exercises and work with SMEs to develop cross/upsell customer journeys aimed at driving incremental revenue from our customer base. The ideal candidate has a solid understanding of email marketing best practices, excellent communication skills, and incredible attention to detail.
Responsibilities
Strategy & Execution:
- Implement email communication campaigns from start to finish, including scheduling, segmentation, and deployment using email marketing software. (Pardot preferred but not required).
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, objectives, and target audience information.
- Lead/Co-lead customer journey ideation sessions; translate to customer email nurture programs (cross-sell, upsell, retention).
- Set up and test email templates, ensuring proper formatting, rendering, and functionality across different email clients and devices.
- Continually optimize and evolve approaches to email marketing strategy, staying current with market best practice.
- Deploy campaigns in compliance with relevant privacy and anti-spam regulations (e.g., GDPR, CAN-SPAM).
- Handle ad-hoc email deployments to our customer base as needed.
List Management and Segmentation:
- Manage customer segmentation lists, ensuring data accuracy, opt-in compliance, operational v. marketing segmentation and unsubscribe processes.
- Segment email lists based on various criteria (e.g., demographics, product, geography) to personalize and target email content effectively.
- Monitor and maintain the health of the email database by managing bounces, unsubscribes, and inactive subscribers.
Content Templates and Formatting:
- Collaborate with the creative team to develop visually appealing email templates, ensuring consistent branding and design.
- Incorporate best practices for email design to optimize open rates, click-through rates, and conversions.
A/B Testing and Optimization:
- Conduct A/B testing on email campaigns to optimize key performance metrics such as subject lines, CTAs, and content layout.
- Analyze results and make data-driven recommendations for improvements and optimizations.
- Stay updated with industry trends and emerging email marketing techniques to enhance communications effectiveness.
Performance Analysis and Reporting:
- Monitor email performance metrics (e.g., open rates, click-through rates, bounces) and provide regular reports and insights to stakeholders.
- Identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for improvement in communications performance.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to develop actionable strategies based on performance analysis.
Your Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or equivalent work experience.
- Proven experience as an Email Marketing Specialist or in a similar role.
- Experience marketing to customers vs. prospects (solely)
- Proficiency in email marketing platforms and tools, Pardot experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of email marketing best practices, including list management, segmentation, and deliverability optimization.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- Familiarity with HTML and CSS for basic email template customization.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and derive actionable insights.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of privacy and anti-spam laws, such as GDPR and CAN-SPAM.
- Experience with marketing automation and CRM systems is a plus.
- Solutions-minded, positive and professionally persuasive.
