Strategic Account Director

The Strategic Account Director is responsible for and will have operational oversight for all client interfaces within the assigned account scope and managing client relationships at the executive level. The Strategic Account Director works together with different functions of the organization to build an account plan and is responsible for client management based on the account plan. The Strategic Account Director will be responsible for a number of established accounts in their geography. This position will also be responsible for the identification of additional sales and consulting opportunities at clients, positioning ArisGlobal sales and service offerings, creating and closing incremental Services contracts/extensions. The successful candidate will have a track record of success in meeting/exceeding customer client satisfaction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Building "trusted advisor" relationships with assigned customers by solving their business and technology problems
  • Business Development – responsible for upselling within existing accounts. This involves identifying business opportunities, selling concepts to the client where required and influencing the client to give additional business based on demonstrated capability and past performance.
  • Manage client expectations and communications flow as it relates to production and internal project teams; negotiate and resolve high level client issues
  • Ensure high level of customer satisfaction by working with customer support, professional services, sales, product delivery to ensure all concerns or escalations are addressed in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Conduct and coordinate executive-level and large group client presentations
  • Assist in the development of new client proposals and estimates. 
  • Build an Account Plan for the account scope – with details of the relationships required, the opportunities that have to be chased, and the revenue expected from such opportunities, as well as potential threats and weaknesses that need to be addressed Address all people or infrastructure related issues that may be affecting the delivery of the project.
  • Understand the organizational structure, dynamics and decision makers and influencers within client organizational to develop a robust account plan.
  • During an ongoing project or implementation, the Strategic Account Director should deliver executive level updates and tracking metrics, to highlight key project risks and recommend risk mitigation plans.
  • Advise regional ArisGlobal executives on key strategic challenges and opportunities.
  • Work across functions, geographies, customer segments and product lines.


  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical or business field.
  • Advanced university degree preferred (e.g., MBA,MS, PhD).
  • 10+ years of applicable business, sales, consulting or combined industry experience.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years leading major programs and projects for Global 1000 companies.
  • Ideally possess clinical, safety or regulatory domain knowledge to assist in understanding the client’s marketplace, competitive landscape and business drivers and discuss.
  • Proven success leading high performance teams and complex programs.
  • Experience managing a software implementation for a pharma client is a strong plus.
  • Strong track record of achieving results in distributed/virtual teams.
  • Experience leading/facilitating workshops with tangible results.
  • Strong executive level presentation and communication skills.
  • Collaborative player that can effectively influence others at all levels.

Preferred Skills 

  • Ability to solve customer’s business and technical problems by utilizing ArisGlobal’s product and service capabilities.
  • Working and proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (MS Word, Excel etc) and database programs experience.
  • Detailed knowledge of software delivery models and infrastructure.
  • Advanced proficiency in Word and Excel; proficient in PowerPoint and Outlook. CRM system experience required.
