Position Summary
Senior FinOps Manager (Financial Operations) leads the financial operations team within the organization, ensuring efficient management of financial resources, optimizing cloud usage, and aligning financial strategies with business objectives. The role focuses on cost management, budgeting, forecasting, and collaborating across departments to maximize cloud investment.
Responsibilities
Leadership and Strategy:
- Lead the FinOps team to manage and optimize cloud spend across multiple platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure).
- Develop and implement FinOps strategies that align cloud usage with business financial objectives.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders (CFO, CTO, engineering, and product teams) to integrate financial management into the cloud adoption lifecycle.
- Educate and advocate for a FinOps culture across the organization, promoting awareness of cloud cost optimization practices.
Cost Management and Optimization:
- Monitor cloud usage and spending to ensure efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Analyze and interpret cost data, usage trends, and cloud bills to provide actionable insights.
- Design and implement policies and tools to control cloud costs while maintaining performance.
- Establish KPIs to measure cost efficiency and track performance against the budget.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Collaborate with finance teams to develop accurate cloud budgets and forecasts based on business goals and usage patterns.
- Provide guidance on optimizing cloud costs during planning cycles, including scenario analysis for different growth models.
- Ensure cost forecasts are aligned with financial goals, identifying and communicating any variances or risks.
- Cross-Departmental Collaboration:
- Work closely with engineering, IT, DevOps, and product teams to align cloud usage with financial best practices.
- Serve as a liaison between finance and technical teams to balance cloud performance needs with cost control.
- Promote transparency in cloud cost allocations to ensure accurate cost attribution to business units or teams.
- Process Improvement and Automation:
- Lead initiatives to automate cloud cost management processes, including implementing cost tracking tools and dashboards.
- Stay current on cloud pricing models and continuously optimize financial processes to adapt to changes in cloud services.
Reporting and Analysis:
- Develop detailed cost analysis reports, dashboards, and visualizations for executives and teams to track cloud financial health.
- Provide insights and recommendations on cost-saving opportunities, and regularly report on progress toward financial optimization goals.
Governance and Compliance
- Establish cloud financial governance policies to ensure cost accountability and enforce cloud financial guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with relevant financial and data protection regulations.
- Audit and review cloud vendor contracts to ensure favorable terms and cost structures.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in financial operations, cloud cost management, or a similar role, with a focus on cloud infrastructure.
- Proven leadership experience managing cross-functional teams, particularly within finance, technology, or cloud environments.
- Strong understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their pricing models.
- Expertise in cloud financial management tools (e.g., CloudHealth, Cloudability, AWS Cost Explorer).
- Solid analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex cost data and provide strategic recommendations.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
