Position Summary

We are seeking a Software Engineering Manager who will be responsible for overseeing teams of software engineers and provide leadership, vision and direction for those teams. The Senior Software Manager also oversees the implementation of software engineering initiatives and is responsible for championing best practices and ensuring initiatives achieve business outcomes. Additionally, this role is responsible for developing and retaining engineering talent, as well as ensuring the software engineering staff have the skills and capabilities to meet business requirements.

This role will drive a strategic product transfer and development in the field of drug regulatory to simplify decision making for researching physicians and speed up the trial process by utilising latest cloud-based data management, graph, BI analytics and AI/ML approaches.

What will you be doing?

• Lead the software engineering teams to delivery projects and products using Java, ElasticSearch, NodeJS, AWS, RDBMs
• Work with product management leadership to design, manage, and/or execute product roadmaps.
• Act as a leader, fostering a culture of innovation, experimentation, engineering excellence, transparency, collaboration and learning within the engineering team, while also contributing to improving engineering culture and best practices. 
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with client business and regulatory requirements.
• Manage employee engagement to retain software engineering staff.
• Recruit and hire talent to address new needs and skill gaps

What you will need to have?

• Excellent leadership skills and experience.
• The ability to build and maintain strong cross-functional partnerships at all levels of the organisation.
• The ability to communicate in a condensed manner to various stakeholders verbally and in writing.
• Strong organisational skills, including an ability to perform under pressure and manage multiple priorities with competing demands for resources.
• Experience with Agile / Scrum software development methodologies and best practices.
• An understanding of relevant tools and platforms (e.g. cloud platforms, web technologies, client-server technologies, continuous integration and deployment), with an eagerness to learn about new and unfamiliar technologies.
• Previous hands-on engineering experience
